Mission

The Springfield Chamber Chorus is a 501(c)3 arts organization dedicated to using the choral arts to empower, educate and edify. The organization consists of two choirs: the Chamber Chorus, an auditioned, professional-caliber volunteer choir which performs music spanning the breadth of the choral repertoire at a high level and commissions new works, particularly from under-represented voices. The second choir is the Springfield Street Choir, a choir made up of homeless individuals, which provides an outlet for creative expression, self-advocacy, community building, and much-needed joy in the homeless community.

Program 1

In the past year, Springfield Chamber Chorus produced a televised Christmas Special, featuring the Chamber Chorus, Street Choir, and choirs from local educational institutions for broadcast around SW Missouri, and commissioned and performed a song cycle made up of texts provided by the local homeless community. The Street Choir has welcomed over 300 total homeless individuals to at least one rehearsal, performed extensively throughout the community, been featured in a documentary, and provides dignity, joy, and purpose for Springfield's homeless community.
