Single Parent Advocate is committed to educating, equipping, and empowering Single Parent Families with resource information, practical assistance, emotional encouragement, and social networking such that those who need help get help – and those who want to help, can.

Single Parent Advocate, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization providing resource connections, growth-based training, and support for single parent families, based in Dallas Texas and the surrounding areas. Additionally Single Parent Advocate corresponds with families from all over the United States and consults non-profits, churches, and businesses on how to build a program for success in serving and engaging single parents within their respective organizations.

1 in 4 children in the US are growing up in a single parent home. Single mothers and fathers have much higher likelihood to live in poverty, as they face incredible work/life balance issues. Single Parent Families have unique needs and issues constantly affecting their inability to overcome ruin. The emotional and financial toll on most of these families is actually helping to create an even younger population of single parents who are just children themselves.

What we aim to solve

Single Parent Advocate works hard to establish needed services for Single Moms, Single Dads as well as their children. 1 in 3 children in North Texas are being raised in a single parent home, and most of those homes are struggling financially to find their footing. Only about 30% of the available jobs in North Texas pay enough for a single parent with two children to be self sufficient. They need our support.

Safe Socials & Holiday Help

Locally over 250 families (including 300 children) are supported.

The organization hosts social functions and provides emotional and practical support during key holidays and seasons of the year including, but not limited to

Valentine’s Day Safe Social,
Mother’s Day Dinner Celebration,
Father’s Day Fun Day,
Back-To-School Supply Drive & Distribution,
Thanksgiving Food Drive & Distribution,
Christmas Gift Drive & Distribution.

Single Parent Advocate corresponds with Single Parents who write in for advice, posts on blogs and facebook with parenting and other advice.  Additionally, Single Parent Advocate posts and reposts coupons for cost savings at the grocery and auto repair.  We would like to grow this program substantially.

People often write in asking how they can begin a group in their area or withing their organization. 

Single Parent Advocate would like to begin a program to help community and faith based organizations achieve this. 

It will involve writing and publishing a work book, and also creating an affiliate program where in groups can become members. 

This will be a ground up development and we will also need to recruit leaders to move forward on meeting this need.

It is our commitment to continue our advocacy, our training with families, consumers and professionals, and our efforts to organize and support volunteer activism in a collaborative fashion with non-profit, faith based, private and public sector partnerships.

Would you like to join us in working to create relief and opportunities for single parents and their children?

Single Parent Advocate is focusing on strengthening family relationships, developing a volunteer culture, and increasing the breadth of our partner and donor bases. We are also actively recruiting board members. in 2020 we launched a podcast on online educational committee to help in remote learning.

We are actively evaluating building a CRM to better be able to report important information for interested parties.

We have the capability to deliver the safe socials program with volunteer power, but really need to add staff and develop a database for the management of the organization because it is growing so much. We need to add storage and secure an office as well. We have had to start renting host locations for our events and our volunteer board is really stretched. We are also needing to document more outcomes by family to qualify for funding so we need to get a true database begun.

We have purchased liability insurance for our events.

We have partnered with a payment solution that will make donated dollars transact with less cost.

We have begun research on database development. We have also launched educational scholarships in 2017!
Additionally, we have been paying single parents for admin support of as much as 20 hours per month for data entry and similar duties.

We are expanding educational scholarships for single parents, and also updating our Safe Socials program with more streamlined operations. Single Parent Advocate is upgrading it's website to be inclusive of user generated content, and also expanding to include more counties in our region.
