What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

PTSD family resiliency program

W2C’s three-phase approach uses a unique evidence-based resiliency program for veterans who may have endured war-trauma and who are transitioning to civilian life and for their family members (spouses and children between the ages of 6 to 17 attend portions of the program). The four-week modular program uses a holistic approach designed by military and academic professionals incorporating healing interventions; psycho-education; individual, group and family clinical counseling modalities; and vocational counseling.
All have been independently-documented as successful for veterans and their family members. The program is modular and is provided over four weeks (28 days). It consists of three phases. This program engages and benefits the entire family; as well as supports military operational readiness.

Holistic psycho-education and training with continuity and a safe confidential environment.

The Child Resiliency Program from Warrior 2 Citizen is an evidence-based program for trauma based on narrative treatment. Narrative treatment seeks to help people identify their values and the skills and knowledge they have to live these values. By viewing problems as something external rather than “who I am”, narrative helps people confront whatever problems they face and help the person author a new narrative or story about themselves. Elements from the research on trauma treatment are combined into a coherent model of narrative group treatment, and research on the model has demonstrated the effectiveness for use with groups to relieve trauma symptomatology (Lane, et.al., 2016, Lane, et.al., 2017, Menard, et.al., 2018).
In response to the need for brief trauma treatment after the devastating earthquake in Haiti 2010, Lane and Lane developed a six-session group narrative treatment model based on storytelling. This model was published in 2015 as Trauma Narrative Treatment. The model centered on a story about trauma and loss Gold Stone (Lane and Lane, 2014), which could be easily shared and relatable for the individuals who experienced trauma. The story addresses the major elements experienced during trauma and grief, including death, profound loss of relationship, life-altering environmental changes, feelings of guilt and self-blame, rage, powerlessness, depersonalization and derealization, loss of a sense of self, and spiritual questioning. Using the story as a reference point, participants in small groups share their own personal stories with each other leading up to the trauma. Following along with the main character of the story, participants then share their trauma experiences. Finally, participants begin the process of finding meaning in their experiences, reconnecting with their sense of self to reestablish wholeness, and writing or telling how their story will proceed following the trauma. Warrior 2 Citizen has worked with Dr. David Lane to incorporate this research based model and narrative modalities into the Child Resiliency Program.
