What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Maine Lobster Leadership Institute

The MLLI was founded to give young lobstermen a chance to become leaders in their community and in their industry. A tri-annual program, the MLLI takes young fishermen, ages 20 -40, off their boats and out of their harbors and offers them an opportunity to see how Maine lobster is managed and marketed at state, regional and international levels. Program involvement includes workshops, attendance at legislative, marketing or industry meetings and culminates with a trip to Prince Edward Island to see how lobster is fished in Canada. Many of the attendees go on to assume leadership roles in the legislature, as board members or as Lobster Zone Council members.
