Central Intake & Referral
Link families in eight central Ohio counties to appropriate early intervention and/or home visiting services and programs
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
CACFP provides aid to family child care homes for the provision of nutritious foods that
contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. CACFP provides reimbursement for meals and snacks served to small groups of children receiving nonresidential child care in
family child care homes that are licensed to provide family child care
Child Development Associate (CDA)
Program participants receive their CDA
credential from the National Council for
Professional Recognition. The CDA Credentialing Program, designed to assess and credential early childhood professionals, is administered nationally by
the Council for Professional Recognition
Action for Children offers a comprehensive CDA Preparation Program for center‐based child care and early education staff and
family child care providers.
Family Child Care Services
Family child care providers in Franklin County become licensed, Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) rated and maintain
mandatory training requirements.
Information + Referral (I&R)
Families in Central Ohio will have increased knowledge of quality indicators and access to child care and early education programs for their children. Action for Children maintains an Information & Referral database of more than 1,600 regulated child care and early education
programs in Central Ohio, including nonprofit and for‐profit child care centers, family child care homes, preschool programs, Head Start programs, and school age programs
Parenting Services - Mothers Matter and Father Factor
Mothers gain skills and knowledge that lead to healthy relationships with their children and co‐parents. This serves Mothers who meet one or more of the following criteria: teen mothers, single/divorced/separated mothers; noncustodial mothers; living in poverty; minority population; involved with the courts, child welfare, or penal system. Class is also open to any mother interested in parenting skills enrichment.
Fathers gain skills and knowledge that lead to healthy relationships with their children and co‐parents. This serves: Fathers who are unengaged or under engaged with their children and meet one or more of the following criteria: living in poverty; un‐ or underemployed; having child custody/visitation issue; involved with the courts; incarcerated; desire to enrich their parenting skills
Professional Development for child care providers and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)
Child care and early education professionals increase their knowledge and skills related to implementation of quality child care and early education and after school programs for infant/toddler, preschool and school age children.
AFC staff works with center-based and family child care and early education programs attain, increase, and/or maintain SUTQ quality ratings.
Putting the Children First
Parents/guardians will learn new knowledge and skills that help them create a healthy, mutually respectful family life for children. This program serves parents of minor children who have filed for divorce, dissolution or legal separation in Franklin County + serve
non-Franklin County parents via the online course.
SUPPORTING PARTNERSHIPS TO ASSURE READY KIDS™ (SPARK)
SUPPORTING PARTNERSHIPS TO ASSURE READY KIDS™ (SPARK) is a family‐focused intervention program that helps children, ages 3‐4 years old, get ready for school by building reading, language and social skills, and seeks to create a seamless transition into school.
The Journey
An early intervention program at the establishment phase of Child Support, designed to increase engagement of non-custodial fathers and improve their parenting skills
and earnings capacity. This serves TANF eligible non-custodial fathers who have a child support case with a minor child in Franklin County through Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency (FCCSEA).
