Education Endeavors
Education Endeavors: Education attainment support
The world of higher education can be difficult to navigate. At The Chatfield Edge, we walk alongside students to help you:
Choose a field of study: Finding what interests you and identifying your strengths determines what type of education might best suit your needs.
Identify a school or program: Some careers require a two-year or four-year college degree while others may require state certification or license, or an apprenticeship. Knowing whats needed up front can launch you in the right direction.
Complete applications: Most schools require students to complete a formal application. We have coaches available to offer in-person or virtual support during the application process.
Secure financial aid: Paying for education can be a challenge. We help you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to access many scholarships and grants. We also help you learn about budgeting, different types of loa
Chatfield Scholars
Chatfield Scholars: Close-the-gap financial support
At The Chatfield Edge, we know that finances are often a barrier for people wanting to pursue education. We assist students in finding financial resources to help make going to school possible by:
Identifying potential family or personal contributions.
Researching federal and state grants and loans, as well as scholarships from corporations, foundations, and individuals.
Providing scholarships if there is still a gap after other financial aid options have been explored.
Before scholarships from The Chatfield Edge are awarded, we work with students to identify other sources of financial support.
Future Now
Future Now: Mentoring and job readiness support
The Chatfield Edge is committed to supporting students beyond the application and admissions process because we know that ongoing support can lead to long-term success. We provide:
Individual coaching while you pursue coursework, helping you stay on track with your goals.
Student peer groups provide support from others who are also engaged in education.
Career counseling to prepare you for success as you build your resume and prepare for job interviews.
Skills for life beyond your core education including financial management, self-care, and how to access a network of community mentors who can support your career.
Spiritual support includes opportunities to reflect on your faith and values and give back to the community through service to others.
Servant Leaders
Servant Leaders: Reflecting and serving others
We believe that students are stronger academically when they not only reflect inwardly on their personal values but also have opportunities to reach outside of themselves to serve others. Clear values drive the actions you take every day, both personally and academically. When you live out those values through service to others, you can make an impact on your community and world.
The Chatfield Edge welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds and invites students to focus on community service, spirituality, and social justice through retreats and volunteer opportunities.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Chatfield Edge empowers and accompanies students as they transform their lives through the pursuit of education. Our work is rooted in the educational legacy of the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County, Ohio. We welcome people of all faith or no faith backgrounds. The Chatfield Edge envisions a world in which first-generation and underserved students are equipped with resources to reach their education and life goals, increasing their employability, servant leadership and deepening their impact on their families and communities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We provide the resources and support underserved and first-generation students need to reach their educational goals. We do this by partnering with the student throughout their higher education experience. We provide support and mentoring, college application and FAFSA application assistance, career counseling, and scholarship assistance. Our scholarships are wide-ranging and often provide gap funding for financial assistance not available via through loans and other avenues.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Chatfield Edge, formerly the Chatfield College, continues it's 178 year legacy ensuring underserved students have the opportunities to succeed as servant leaders and successful scholars. We ensure they have the financial resources and mentoring support they need to succeed in their higher education journey.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Chatfield Edge's mission is to empower and accompany would-be scholars as they transform their lives through the pursuit of postsecondary education. We understand that the desire to gain higher education is the first step on a journey that will lead to a lifetime of growth and opportunity. Often times this journey ends with changed lives, families, communities and human thriving.
Over the past year the organization has consistently delivered on its commitment, positively impacting the lives of countless individuals through untethered higher education.
In our first six months, weve reached 17 students supporting them with financial scholarships as they enroll in college, university and trade certification programs.
Weve recruited and onboarded 8 mentors in industries like education, travel, data solutions, university life, design, finance and even behavioral sciences.
Our scholars are first generation or underrepresented students who attend institutions of higher learning in three states, including Ohio University, Purdue University and Asbury University.
