Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We work with children and adults with disabilities including physical, mental, emotional and social challenges. We utilize horses to help ur students find joy and healing in safe, fun atmosphere.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Therapeutic Horseback Riding
Since 1973, TRI has assisted children, youth, and adults with a vast array of physical, mental, and emotional challenges to improve their lives through the innate therapeutic qualities of a horse. Whereas physical therapy in a room may be a chore, riding becomes a treat. Students have an opportunity to work on life skills, concentration, following directions, and working with others through horseback riding skills. TRI encourages all of our students to strive for independent riding to their best of their ability.
Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy
TRI is partnering with local, licensed mental health professionals to provide Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). EFP is a recognized experiential treatment modality that utilizes the powerful presence of a horse, the training of a licensed mental health professional and a certified equine specialist to effectively treat a wide range of behavioral, emotional and mental challenges. Clients will begin with ground work and graduate to mounted activities as appropriate.

- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
