SENIOR CENTER - IN 2017, ANDERSON TOWNSHIP ASSUMED MANAGEMENT AND DAILY OPERATIONS OF ITS SENIOR CENTER. THE GATBC AGREED TO ASSIST WITH DONATIONS TO THE CENTER TO HELP FINANCE EQUIPMENT, PROGRAMS, ETC. WHILE THE CENTER, WITH NEARLY 500 MEMBERS, IS STAFFED BY THE TOWNSHIP, AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE WORKS WITH THE GATBC TO SUPPORT THE CENTER'S OPERATIONS.

PARADE -IN 2005, A GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS ORGANIZED THE FIRST ANDERSON INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE. TODAY, THIS DRAWS APPROXIMATELY 10,000 PERSONS TO BEECHMONT AVENUE, AND HAS OVER 80 PARTICIPATION GROUPS. SPONSORS DONATE FUNDS THAT WERE RECEIVED BY THE GATBC TO HELP SUPPORT THE PARADE COMMITTEE WHO ORGANIZES THIS SUMMERTIME HIGHLIGHT IN ANDERSON.

FIRE & RESCUE - IN 2015, THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, A 501-C-3, CEASED OPERATIONS. HOWEVER, AS MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY OF 44,000 RESIDENTS OFTEN WISH TO GIVE BACK TO THE FIREFIGHTERS AND PARAMEDICS THAT PROTECT THEM, THE GATBC WAS APPROACHED BY THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT TO MANAGE SUCH DONATIONS. THESE FUNDS ARE IN TURN EXPENDED, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT, ON COMMUNITY-WIDE SAFETY EFFORTS.
