Mission

Our mission is to develop, maintain and manage the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building and the Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area, a woodland area with trails and largely undisturbed habitat for recreation and education that includes indoor and outdoor facilities where the community can gather together, enjoy or study the natural world, and to collaborate with user groups to encourage the public to engage in educational, recreational and group activities.

Gathering places for family, organization and community events, activities and recreation include a community building with a large capacity for guests or for the spacing of guests, pavilion and grounds, picnic shelters, ponds. Nominal rental fees apply to nonprofit organizations, schools, governmental bodies, and other non-commercial uses.

A local college professor, students and nature enthusiasts document and catalogue plants and creatures in the Park and upload that data to the iNaturalist website using the iNaturalist app.

The building is designed for meetings, presentations, training, and social events. It is available to nonprofit organizations, schools, governmental bodies, and other non-commercial groups or organizations at a nominal fee for cleaning and maintenance. The building will accommodate up to 289 people in normal times and provides plenty of space for distancing when necessary. It has a kitchen for food brought in by users and caterers.
