Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals are to improve quality of choices, independence, and dignity of people age 55 and older throughout Delaware County, Ohio. In all our endeavors, we seek to represent the needs and interests of older adults and promote the development of a more efficient service delivery network, both through our own service offerings and through those of our partner agencies and local government.
Overall we work to improve the quality of life of the older population of Delaware County by being a catalyst to develop, sustain, and continually improve a comprehensive, coordinated, community-based system of effective services and opportunities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
SourcePoint has been effective in achieving its mission for more than 28 years. We will lengthen our long record of success with:
• A strong, active, and diverse board.
• A responsive and professional staff.
• Continued growth in partnerships and collaborations with like-minded organizations serving those 55 and older.
• The continued delivery of high-quality programs, evidenced by local and national recognition.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
• Excellence in board leadership. Our volunteer board of directors includes professionals with a broad range of experience and includes physicians and nurses, attorneys, educators, accountants, and business professionals, both active and retired.
• Executive management. Our founding executive director spent more than 40 years serving the needs of older adults, including six years as the Assistant Director of the Ohio Department of Aging, as well as both study and work at the Scripps Gerontology Foundation at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. His successor and the rest of the executive management team brings a great depth of experience in the areas of service delivery and social work, financial management, communications, and business development.
• Human resources. The organization boasts a staff of more than 90 professionals, as well as nearly 900 volunteers who actively and passionately serve the needs of local seniors.
• Funding. Stable funding is provided through a local senior services levy which received 72% community support during its last appearance on the ballot. Private and corporate contributions provide another important base of support for ensuring services as the elder population of our county continues to grow.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our accomplishments are easy to quantify as demonstrated above. Our future, though, holds so much more. As we look ahead to the coming years, we expect explosive growth in the number of individuals who need our support as we face a wave of aging baby boomers who will want to remain healthy and independent. Our five-year goals include providing additional choices for older adults who receive our services – such as extra menu selections for our Meals on Wheels diners, more choices of services providers for those who receive other in-home care services, and a host of other health and wellness options that will enhance the quality of life for older county residents.
