What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Golden Manor

Perhaps the greatest benefit you may receive at Spruce Street Golden Manor is rental assistance based on your income. For those who qualify, rent payments will not exceed 30% of your personal monthly income, adjusted by medical expenses and assets. An additional benefit is that utility payments are included in your rent.

All apartments are furnished with wall-to-wall carpeting, range, frost-free refrigerator and garbage disposal. Each apartment has individual central heat and air conditioning controls with which you may adjust the temperature. Pharmacy delivery and home health care programs are available through various agencies to assist you. An On-Site Social Service Coordinator is also available for additional resident support.

Imagine a very special place that has been designed and constructed to address the practical needs of Independent physically challenged residents while maintaing a comfortable living environment; an environment that reaches out to those in need through the initiation of programs that will be a source of change and hope.

This place is the Spruce Street House of Hope.

The House of Hope is the newest addition to the Spruce Street (CDC) Community Development Corporation. The corporation operates within the greater ministry and vision of supporting the linkage between church and community and promoting social change through:

Population(s) Served

The SSCDC has secured and renovated it's first housing unit to be rented to a low-income resident.  This property was donated by a deceased member of the Spruce Street Baptist church and is the first of many the SSCDC endeavors to obtain to rent to residents living at or below the poverty level.

Population(s) Served

In accordance with our mission, the SSCDC intends to establish an after-school program for students residing in the targeted area.  We aspire to implement a program to assist students in passing the state-mandated exams and increase the graduation rate, particularly among African-American males.
