What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Excel Center®

Recognizing that more than 700,000 adults in Indiana lack a high school diploma, Goodwill opened The Excel Center for adults in 2010. It is not a GED/HSE program; instead, The Excel Center is a public school for adults who want to earn a high school diploma. There are currently five locations in Indianapolis — W. Michigan Street, The Meadows, Franklin Road, W. 34th Street and University Heights — and one location each in Anderson, Kokomo, Lafayette, Noblesville, Shelbyville, and Richmond.

Population(s) Served

Goodwill opened Indianapolis Met in 2004. The school focuses on career and college readiness, providing individualized plans that help students prepare for next steps such as starting a career or pursuing a two- or four-year degree.

Population(s) Served

Goodwill’s Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) pairs mothers pregnant with their first child with a registered nurse for ongoing home visits aimed at supporting mothers and families in providing the very best start for their children during the earliest, most developmentally critical years. NFP is an international, community health program, widely researched and recognized for increasing healthcare access and improving health outcomes.

Goodwill and NFP support the Indiana State Department of Health’s Labor of Love campaign to reduce infant death, providing prenatal care and teaching parents about and encouraging smoking cessation, breastfeeding and safe sleep.

Population(s) Served

Goodwill’s Children’s Learning Center, just 10 minutes from downtown Louisville, is the only child care provider in southern Indiana that holds the distinction of National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA).
We are a child development center and preschool for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Our services set us apart from other child care facilities, allowing us to help all children, challenged to gifted, to develop to their full potential. Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital offers therapies in-house, so you don’t have to worry about taking your child to a separate facility during the workday. Read on for more information about the Pediatric Therapy Program.

Population(s) Served

Through a variety of job-seeker and placement services, we help connect individuals with barriers to jobs – at Goodwill and with many other companies as well. Services are geared toward individuals with disabilities, individuals who lack a high school diploma, individuals with a criminal background and job-seekers age 55+.
