What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Marching Band

Our summer music program is generally comprised of over 100 students that participate in competition style marching and performing during the summer months. One of our largest competitions is State fair band day. The kids get to learn skills such as leadership, hard work and working as a family. These kids that participate in the summer marching program must dedicate 100% of their time to learning the music and the show and spend much of their time with their fellow band mates making them a family not just a team. Our music program has a 99% graduation rate and many of those kids move on to higher learning.

Population(s) Served

We are home to the first high school orchestras. Providing guidance and leadership skills through music. Our orchestra department continues to grow with new students every year.

The Steel Drum Band is just a small group of very talented kids that love to play music. They perform for the public and for the school while learning important skills, like being part of a team and how to be a leader, as well as learning the skills needed for new musical endeavors.

Population(s) Served

Richmond Drum line has won caption 10 times at state fair, they are the only band to have won caption 10 times. setting the state record. The kids that participate in Drum line dedicate many hours to practicing music both at school and in their free time, they show up an hour before the rest of the marching band and leave only after everyone else has gone, This is a very talented group of kids with many moving on to higher education.
