What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Corbella Clinic serves a vital need in the community by being the first step for women facing an unexpected pregnancy. The first hours and days following the discovery of an unplanned pregnancy can be full of anxiety, worry and fear. In fact, the average number of days between a woman having a positive home pregnancy test and having an abortion is just 9 days. The decision is often made alone and without adequate information and education and thus the decision is often followed by substantial regret and the wish that they had been more fully informed. Corbella Clinic strives to reach and serve these women by educating and equipping them to make a fully informed decision regarding their pregnancy. Thus, our Clinic strengthens the community and fills a special need for women, children and families in our service area.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Medical Services

Corbella Clinic uses a 15-step patient process to be of maximum benefit to each patient served. During her appointment, a young woman will have the opportunity to focus on her greatest concern – her unplanned pregnancy. The three main questions every woman who thinks she might be pregnant has will be answered. These are: Am I really pregnant? How far along am I? Do I have an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection)? Patients will receive vital, factual information. If the pregnancy test is positive, a nurse sonographer will perform an ultrasound to determine a viable pregnancy, gestational age of the baby, and to provide an opportunity for the patient to see her baby, including seeing and hearing the baby’s heartbeat. Nurses will provide personalized resources and referrals for the patient according to her unique needs, and will schedule follow-up ultrasound appointments. Nurses continue to follow-up with patients by phone at intervals throughout their pregnancies.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Focusing on and expanding our medical services, as well as reaching more people in need of our pregnancy services is at the heart of Corbella's current and future vision. Corbella’s Medical Program has been steadily growing since medical services were first offered in 2010. The increased investment in digital marketing has enabled the clinic to reach more women and couples in need than ever before. In 2023, the Clinic has seen about 50 new patients each month and each unique patient is typically seen 2-4 times within one month. We plan to continue increasing that number with the opening of our second medical room, which will give us the ability to serve twice as many patients. Our goals and objectives, therefore, are to continue finding ways to reach more women and couples facing unplanned pregnancies and equip them with the tools they need to receive the precious gift of a child into their hearts and homes. Last year, 230 mothers who were planning to have an abortion or who were greatly at risk for abortion have chosen life instead for their unborn children through Corbella’s medical program. 230 unborn children will now have the opportunity to be born!

Corbella Clinic aims to serve twice as many people in our community with the opening of a second ultrasound room in 2022. We recently installed plumbing and sinks in the current and new medical rooms and raised funds for a second ultrasound machine. An additional medical room allows us to offer more than one ultrasound at a time and ensure our medical services will continue if one ultrasound machine is being serviced. This will enable us to see more patients, especially during appointment slots that are most in demand.
The new ultrasound machine has 3D technology, which will allow our nurses to capture even clearer, sharper images of our patient’s growing babies, and is a powerful tool to help moms see the reality of the new life inside of them.
The addition of a new ultrasound machine/room is a huge step forward that will allow us to serve more families.
Digital marketing is crucial for our work since women and couples facing unplanned pregnancies search for help online in most cases, especially when considering abortion. Continuing to invest in digital marketing will greatly assist Corbella in serving a growing number of patients seeking help, answers and education in their early stages of pregnancy and beyond.

All medical services and medical information are administered by registered nurses trained in obstetrical sonography. Our nurse manager has almost 30 years of experience, 14 in pregnancy care. Our second nurse has 25 years of experience in labor/delivery and Obgyn care. Our youngest nurse has 7 years of experience. Corbella Clinic's Medical Director is a Diagnostic Radiologist and the Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Delnor Hospital. He has over 34 years of experience and has been serving as the Clinic’s Medical Director for 13 years. Corbella’s Medical Director directly oversees all medical services.
