HOPE HOLLOW
A light of hope on your cancer journey
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Hope Hollow is working to address the needs of cancer patients that do not have the financial means to travel away from their homes to Columbus, Ohio to seek the medical treatment desperately needed in hope of finding a cure for their cancer. Travel expenses can be overwhelming…placing tremendous stress on an individual who is already dealing with the extensive costs of their medical treatment. We make it possible for them to seek the appropriate and best treatment for their cancer diagnosis…which literally can make the difference between life or death. We do this by providing them and their loved ones with lodging, meals, transportation costs and emotional support… at no cost…while traveling to our city for their cancer treatment.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Hope Hollow is offering welcome, hospitality and hope by providing the cancer patients we serve with the basic needs that are necessary (e.g. lodging, meals, transportation and emotional support) while being away from home on one the most difficult journeys of their life. We are aiming to give them every opportunity possible to seek the cancer treatment they need which will hopefully result in a cure for their cancer. With a disease such as cancer, multiple rounds of appointments and treatment services are necessary, and this can be a tremendous strain financially on the patient and their family. We also are striving to welcome the stranger to our city…who we describe as “friends we have yet to meet.”
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategies are multifold. Our primary strategy is to share our story and the stories of those we serve…as most persons upon hearing the story embrace our mission and want to share in the journey with us recognizing the need that exists. Another strategy is fundraising efforts that provide the monies to help the cancer patients who are in need. Fundraising endeavors include…1.) “An Evening of Hope” …a dinner, silent auction, live auction, etc. attended by a few hundred persons…this is our signature fundraiser each year 2.) “Polo for Hope” …a family friendly polo match fundraiser supported by the Columbus Polo Club 3.) A 5K race organized by a young woman who is a nursing student and a cancer survivor 4.) “Tree of Hope” Christmas parties/projects, sponsored by individuals and businesses, where guests bring gift cards for restaurants/groceries and gasoline to decorate the Christmas tree 5.) In addition, our kind and generous donors (both individuals, businesses and corporations) who continue to support and believe in the mission of Hope Hollow.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our capabilities for achieving our goals include minimal administrative costs as Jane Jacquemin-Clark and Kevin Clark, the founders of Hope Hollow, volunteer full-time administering and overseeing the organization. We have amazing and dedicated volunteers who give of their time, talent and treasures. We have committed members on our Board of Directors who work diligently in their service to Hope Hollow. We also have a group of persons called “The Friends of Hope Hollow” who volunteer as an advisory body in directing the fundraising events throughout the year. Hope Hollow has been greatly blessed in having dedicated persons helping to lead and direct Hope Hollow as we continue to grow in serving cancer patients who are in need.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The following statistics demonstrate our accomplishments, progress and growth…in 2015, we provided over 300 nights of lodging; in 2016, that number grew to 500 nights; in 2017, we reached 800 nights; in 2018, we provided over 1,100 nights and in 2019, over 1,550 nights of lodging were provided for cancer patients and their families at no cost to the patient. In addition, Hope Hollow provides over $3,000.00 per month in fuel assistance and in meals/groceries/nutritional support to those we serve. Our progress and accomplishments are also evident in the beautiful testimonials we receive from the patients who we come to know, love, and serve. Their words of gratitude and love are some of the most powerful and meaningful expressions of our accomplishments we could ever hope for!!!
As to “what’s next” we hope to enhance and grow our Board of Directors; increase our capacity to serve more cancer patients as the need grows; hire an Executive/Development Director and continue to share the “stories of hope” of the cancer patients we serve.
