Dream Court Program

Nancy Lieberman Charities builds basketball courts titled “Dream Courts” in multiple cities across the country. Through this initiative, the aim is to make basketball more accessible to kids, as well as to provide a safe environment for kids to play. Dream Courts™ provide children in underprivileged communities an inexpensive recreational alternative, a safe place to play basketball, interact socially and learn the importance about teamwork and good sportsmanship. This serves as an impactful avenue for leaving a lasting legacy which benefits low-income, at-risk children.

• Our Day at the Office mentorship program began in 2014 and is an initiative for high school students that provides an opportunity to spend the day with local business leaders in an office setting while building self-esteem, confidence and decision making for students to learn how to network through as they prepare for the next phase of their life. Each quarter of the year 20 students, both boys and girls attend our Day at the Office each student receives a tablet, personal business cards and the opportunity to network and learn from Nancy Lieberman, Wimbrey Training Systems and business leaders from the host company during our 1.5 hour mentorship/leadership program. We work with ISD’s to formally make this a field trip for the students. This includes bussing the students to the site with a school chaperone, providing lunch and getting a swag gift from the host company.

Since 1980 Nancy Lieberman Charities Basketball Camps and Clinics have served as a classroom to teach basketball fundamentals, teamwork, structure, leadership, and life skills and health to propel the next generation of student-athletes to success on and off the court. Nancy Lieberman Charities is proud to offer 200 scholarships each summer for children in need to attend these camps.

It is never too early for youth to learn and understand about finances. Many don't know how to fill out loans, write checks, and buy a car or how taxes work. They have heard of taxes, but have no knowledge or know how to create their own person budget. We are their Financial Coaches and this has to be commonplace in our country. We can be the difference maker in a student’s life with our guidance.

We have a workbook and e-version of our Playbook for Financial Success that is given to students. Due to the pandemic the workbook is taught via video call (ex. Zoom) until we can resume normal classroom practices.

Nancy Lieberman Charities created the Tablets for Technology Program to allow all students to have an opportunity to compete and excel in the classroom. The Tablets for Technology Program provides new tablets to students in financial need, and who pledge to perform community service during the year.

Nancy Lieberman Charities feels it is imperative to continue to educate our youth and encourage them to work hard and use good judgment in their everyday lives. Nancy Lieberman Charities has three educational programs: The Nancy Lieberman Educational College Scholarships, Tablets for Technology and The Back-2-School Backpack program. All three of these programs were created to positively impact academic participation and school attendance.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our Vision is to be the catalyst for the development of young girls and boys throughout the country by using sports for health, wellness, and to combat obesity and mental health issues. Sports is a motivational tool that brings people together, builds core values of confidence, self-esteem, participation, teamwork and decision making. Nancy Lieberman Charities believes no child should face those challenges alone.

Our Method is to teach leadership, health, fitness and networking. We want our youth to be strong enough to reject bullying, stand up for youth and friends that need strength and protection. We are providing for this generation of youth scholarships, mentorship, and technology for each student to be on an equal level playing field. Our Dream Courts provide a safe, secure, healthy and educationally-based environment.

Data
  • We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
