What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
During LifeLinks' 43-year history service offerings have expanded to meet community needs and now include a full array of outpatient and support services for children, adolescents, adults and families, including crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, case management and psychiatric and nursing services. Nearly 3000 individuals are served each year, including 750 children.
Outpatient Services
Our outpatient program provides individual and group counseling to children over the age of 3, adolescents and adults.
Community Support Services
Our Community Support Services program provides case management to adults over the age of 18 who are living with a severe and persistent mental illness. These services include counseling and assistance with supportive services such as housing, health care and food. This program also include Psychosocial Rehabilitation which provides group and individual services to help the consumer learn to control the symptoms of their disease and to remain functional within the community.
Regional Behavioral Health Network
This program provides access to trained crisis clinicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through a toll free phone number (1-866-567-2400). It provides services to consumers living in Coles, Edgar, Clark and Cumberland Counties.
SASS
Screening Assessment and Support Services provides intensive therapy and supportive services to children at risk of psychiatric hospitalization and their families. Services are provided in the child's home and community.
Individual Placement and Support
This program assists adults over the age of 18 who are actively engaged in mental health services and wish to enter or re-enter the work force. A highly trained employment specialist works with the consumer to identify vocational goals and interests and then assists the consumer with finding employment. Once the consumer has obtained employment ongoing support services are provided to help the consumer reduce barriers to employment success.
Caregiver Connections
Early childhood mental health consultation is provided to childcare providers.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our strategic plan of 2010-2013 highlights the following goals:
1. Increase sources of revenue not dependent on the State of Illinois
2. Prepare the organization for regionalization
3. Increase the visibility of the organization
4. Integrate behavioral health services and primary care
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Goal 1 utilizes the following strategies: Rent/lease unutilized warehouse space; Maximize grant applications that align with our mission; Collaborate with the local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC); Maximize third party insurance or other non-State of Illinois payer sources; and Establish fundraising activities and/or for profit business development.
Goal 2 utilizes the following strategy: Develop, insure and maintain LifeLinks’ system and infrastructure to support regionalized service provision.
Goal 3 utilizes the following strategy: Engage in applicable activities/presentations that can increase visibility of LifeLinks.
Goal 4 utilized the following strategies: Pilot the placement of a licensed clinical social worker at a local primary care office for the provision of the Impact model of treatment for elderly individuals experiencing symptoms of depression; Participate in training events, webinars that will enhance our knowledge and implementation of this initiative; and engage with other collaborative partners that have the potential of helping LifeLinks move forward in this endeavor.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Limited resources impact our ability to accomplish some of our goals. We continually look for fund sources to allow us the staff time and materials for these initiatives.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Goal 1: No forward progress is being made for utilization of the warehouse. Every grant that comes to our attention is reviewed for feasibility. Over 100 possibilities where reviewed this past fiscal year. Payer mix is monitored closely to insure that we are serving our consumers while maximizing available revenue for ongoing services. We are actively planning our first major fundraising event to be held in April 2014.
Goal 2: The Leadership Team concur that this goal/objective has been met believing that our infrastructure is in place for regionalization. Of course additional staff would be needed at some point and a plan is in place for prioritization of those added positions and responsibilities.
Goal 3: During this past fiscal year we have increased the number of presentations to service groups/organizations about our Agency. We have participated in a talk radio show and have been invited to participate in that on a regular basis. A Poker Run was scheduled not only raise money but to also raise visibility about LifeLinks.
Goal 4: The importance and emphasis on the integration of behavioral health and primary care at both the State and Federal level influences us . Although full implementation is anticipated to take several years, it is essential that we start the process now.
