Mission

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them. We serve approximately 11,500 girls in grades K5-12, and 5,500 adults who believe in our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. With programs in Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties, we give every Girl Scout in our council the chance to reach their full leadership potential.

Girl Scout Leadership Experience

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is a modern Scouting model based on a decade of national research and strategic planning around the needs, challenges and desires of today's girls. This powerful curriculum forms the basis of all Girl Scout activities, and emphasizes the development of self-esteem, job/career readiness, ability to positively communicate and relate to others, and life management skills.

Outlined in a series of workbooks, journals, and other materials called “Journeys”, the GSLE curriculum is used by troop leaders and girls to create experiences unique to each troop and girl. The GSLE curriculum also integrates three Keys to Leadership which are woven into all activities: 1) Girls learn to Discover themselves and explore the world. 2) Girls care about and Connect with others locally and globally. 3) Girls Take Action to make the world a better place.
Every week, Girl Scouts throughout Southeastern Wisconsin are building confidence and skills as they participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through camp, workshops, and after school troop meetings. Through multiple Girl Scout experiences, a girl’s leadership potential blooms among other girls—away from school pressures, social cliques, and boys—in a supportive group where she can be herself and try new things.
