Mission

The mission of CIH is to improve global health through international health partnerships that offer training, consultation, technical
assistance, material resources and health systems development techniques to strengthen the clinical, technical, and management
capabilities of health professionals worldwide. As a consortium of academic institutions, health care providers, industry partners, and public government, CIH is uniquely positioned to provide multi-disciplinary health education and training worldwide, with a particular focus on establishing long-term partnerships between academic medical centers, universities, and health professionals. By bringing together consortium member resources, CIH has been able to provide training for well over 3,000 individuals (and thousands more indirectly through a "train the trainers" approach) in more than 40 countries on five continents over the past 27 years.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

With your help, it is our goal in 2014 to continue supporting our partners in Zambia, as well as China, South Africa, Namibia, and India, while launching new programs in Tanzania, Mozambique, and underserved areas of South America. Our areas of focus will include pharmacy training, nursing training, maternal and child health, and nutrition.

CIH has recently established a Program Advisory Committee comprised of health professionals from each of our consortia members, as well as other health institutions throughout southeast Wisconsin. This committee will serve as the foundation for programmatic planning in 2014. Grant applications for funding of health exchange programs in China, Tanzania and Zambia will be submitted in early 2014 to the CDC and USAID. CIH is also launching a new donor program for individual contributors to increase awareness of the organization and support smaller program costs such as training seminars in the Milwaukee area and mini-trainings in Zambia.

The successes of the Center for International over the past 27 years can be uniquely contributed to the public/private partnerships of the organization. In collaboration with the American International Health Alliance, Concordia University, Children's Hospital and Health System, Froedtert Hospital, Aurora Healthcare, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Bread of Healing Clinic, USAID, the CDC, and Milwaukee County, CIH has both the financial and intellectual capacity to support the initiatives laid out for 2014. The significant impact training programs administered by CIH have had in countries around the world has demonstrated the ability of the organization to continue its mission going forward and is the reason the above listed organizations have confirmed there future collaboration with the center.
