Food & Nutrition

Open Tuesday through Thursday, CAPI's food shelf supports households with culturally-specific and emergency food at our IOC location. During the summer months, CAPI partners with Second Harvest to facilitate Fresh Food distributions to the community. CAPI also hosts urban gardening plots for immigrant communities throughout the Twin Cities.

The BEC assists people in applying and enrolling in programs such as SNAP/EBT, Energy Assistance, Affordable Connectivity Program, Medicare Savings Program, Transit Assistance, MNsure Affordable Health Insurance, and Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS).

CAPI promotes health and holistic wellbeing through preventative care, vaccine clinics, mental health programming, and health education.

CAPI provides case management to assist seniors (ages 65+) to live independently. The Senior Program also has a long history of providing access assistance and group support to 50+ adult caregivers.

In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Human Services RPO, CAPI provides case management services to newly arrived Afghan families in order to stabilize their housing.

In Partnership with the Office of Refugee Resettlement, CAPI works with local employers to create job and English training/learning opportunities on site at workplaces the employ Afghan refugees to help facilitate job mobility and increased job proficiency.

Case-managed employment services to aid people on public assistance secure childcare, advance their education, and obtain and sustain employment. This program strives to guide individuals toward self-sufficiency through employment.

Quarterly cohort trainings that lead to earning industry recognized certificates and credentials. Job counselors assist with post-training placement services in healthcare, green energy, property maintenance, and other in-demand industries. CAPI also facilitates culturally-specific employment programming for African and Southeast Asian immigrants, and a program that supports Internationally Trained Healthcare Professionals.

CAPI provides job counseling, career exploration, resume and cover letter development, interviewing tips, and job leads through one-on-one coaching and Work Readiness Workshops.

CAPI offers financial education and coaching to help clients create a budget, review their credit report, work on financial goal planning, purchase a home, and learn how to begin building wealth to move clients toward financial stability and independence.

CAPI serves as the lead agency of a five-agency AAPI Voting Coalition that focuses on voter registration, education, and engagement.

CAPI hosts the annual Twin Cities World Refugee Day celebration providing a platform to showcase MN refugee artists, speakers, and more.

CAPI staff are engaged in numerous coalitions to change conditions that limit peoples' choices including the Blue Line Coalition, Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice, and Ignite Minnesotan Asian Power.
