What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

ADRF is proud to provide you the following report describing the activities, successes and progress we have realized since our creation in 2002. Although ADRF does not have any full or part time employees, the work of our volunteers and contracted assistant have resulted in these accomplishments:

More than $300,000 in cash grants have been made in support of the clinical trial Interruption of Beta Cell Autoimmunity and the Restoration of Beta Cell Function in Type I Diabetes; this study will be directed by Dr. David Nathan and is based on the research of Dr. Denise Faustman.

ADRF?s negotiation with equipment manufacturers, providing more than $500,000 worth of goods and services at no cost to expedite early phases of the clinical trial Interruption of Beta Cell Autoimmunity and the Restoration of Beta Cell Function in Type I Diabetes.

Being able to distribute 100% of gifts made to ADRF in support of the clinical trial Interruption of Beta Cell Autoimmunity and the Restoration of Beta Cell Function in Type I Diabetes to the appropriate designated fund at Massachusetts General Hospital.

All this has been accomplished at a cost of under $120,000, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our founders, volunteers and corporate sponsors. Additional accomplishments include:

Establishing a web site addressing autoimmune disease research and the ?Common Cause? Hypothesis, predicting that autoimmune diseases may have a single cause and common cure. The site cites research suggesting that autoimmune diseases should be regarded as a single disease manifested as many distinct syndromes.

Presenting to more than a dozen groups the facts related to ADRF?s mission and research addressing the ?Common Cause? Hypothesis.

Attracting scientist inquiry and grant requests to further progress toward finding the cure for autoimmune diseases; these requests are currently under review.

The collection of hundreds of family stories describing how autoimmune diseases have afflicted extended families through a variety of manifestations, further bolstering the ?Common Cause? Hypothesis.

Becoming established as an honest broker of information about the business and politics of biomedical research and research funding.

Attracting a supporter base of thousands of people from around the world who wish to be kept informed of the latest research and information about autoimmune disease.

Generation of media reports addressing the mission of ADRF and the ?Common Cause? Hypothesis.
