DanceSport Education

WHY DANCESPORT EDUCATION
The world throws a lot of challenges at kids - TV promoting pop culture, phones distracting from daily life, video games that create an addictive behavior, not enough physical activities and the biggest challenge is the decline of social skills - ability to look in the eyes and keep the conversation becomes a real issue for many kids growing up these days.

We believe our kids deserve the best! That is why we promote DanceSport Education where kids can get stronger, build healthy skills of self-discipline and ability to present themselves with grace and confidence, learn musicality and communication through the graceful art of dance! We also wanted to give a venue of support to young and developing DanceSport athletes.

WHAT WE DO
- We bring ballroom dance to children ages 4 through 18 directly to their schools.
- We engage long-term with the schools and their students.
- We outreach to ALL students, including at risk, low-income and students with special needs.
- We outreach to students who are homeschooled, or are involved in online K-12 education programs.
- We offer complete DanceSport curriculum with a proven instructional methodology and top-rated, world-class professionals as our instructors.
- We support young and developing DanceSport talent with need and talent-based scholarships.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
