Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We aim to be a go-to resource for local animal organizations (shelters, rescues, pound system) to provide assistance through funding and supplies to help animals in need within these organizations. We also do some advocacy work by working with policy makers to implement changes to help animals.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our board members are committed to the D.O.G.S. mission by identifying opportunities and resources for us to raise funding and awareness so that we can connect with and help as many local animal organizations as possible. We currently allocate over 50 percent of our efforts and resources to assisting animals in need. We currently have multiple task forces in place to focus on specific areas to help D.O.G.S. work towards our goals.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We currently rely heavily on our board members and volunteers to help us work towards our goals. We also continue to look for opportunities to partner with other local animal organizations and businesses to help us.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are a fairly new organization and have made great strides to date. We have been able to help several local animal organizations, but we would like to continue to grow our presence and help more animals and organizations.

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
