Mission

Theatre Now New York is an artist service organization dedicated to the development, production, publication, and circulation of short and long-form musicals, by providing ongoing support for writers and their work in order to nurture voices and forms that push the boundaries of musical theatre. Theatre Now New York bridges the gap between early readings and fully-produced theatrical runs by offering staged and performed developmental productions to pieces that are ready to live on their feet. We strive for continuity and growth in our production process by collaborating with artists on story development through song and dialogue, and focusing on their prospective audience. SOUND BITES Festival of 10 Minute Musicals

Sound Bites 2014 is a musical theatre festival which showcase ten 10-minute musicals or musical excerpts in one evening. Do you have a 10-minute musical or 10-minute musical excerpt of a full-scale musical? Any 10-minute piece that can be performed and includes music can qualify! The Second Annual Sound Bites Festival of little musicals is perfect for you. Sound Bites offers a unique opportunity for talented writers, composers, and lyricists to showcase their work publicly in front of audiences and industry professionals. Through an open submission process, Theatre Now New York will select the ten best 10-minute musicals or musical excerpts which will then be presented in New York City. Each musical will compete for Festival Awards and for inclusion in future programs with the creative team of Theatre Now New York on the development of new works. Sound Bites gives an exhilarating opportunity for artists of all theatrical disciplines at any point in their careers in getting their work seen and possibly developed further or even produced.

About Our Raw Readings:
Scripts presented at the Raw Reading series can be
at any point in the developmental process. It is a chance for both
Theatre Now and the audience to hear new works presented in a
spontaneous and unplanned way.
Participation by the audience is an integral part of
the process, which serves as an important
step in the evolution of a new plays or musical.
The raw readings also allow Theatre Now to access whether or
not they wish to move forward in the development of a particular
play or musical because it embodies the vision of Theatre Now;
creating impactful and potentially groundbreaking theatre.
