Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Backpack Journey
The Backpack Journey delivers basic education supplies to underprivileged students. School necessity as simple as a backpack can many ways alter the way students go to school. The cost so little, yet struggling families simply cannot afford. Very often, due to financial hardships, thousands of children suffer without any form of education, even basic reading and writing.
Library Program
The overall goal of the program is to transform the lives of students through education in Vietnam.
This goal is supported by two main objectives:
Objective 1: To increase the ability of less fortunate children in rural areas in reading culture
Objective 2: To develop the quality of education in rural schools in line with national objectives
Computer Lab
Provide computer labs and equipment to foster computer skills for middle school students

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Every child deserves equal opportunity for education. Sadly, underprivileged children in rural Vietnam need a lot of help to go to school, because their parents cannot afford to keep them in school, demand for their domestic help trumps dedication and time for school. The schools in these rural areas often have poor infrastructure as well. BeCause for Hope wants to increase participation rate, literacy level, practical knowledge & critical thinking, analytical skills through its program: donation of books, notebooks, uniforms, PC & desktops, bikes, and library room. By supporting the underprivileged children, BeCause for Hope hopes to alleviate financial pressure on poor families and keep the children in school.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our 5 steps approach:
Step 1: Project Sourcing
Our local team in Vietnam sources high potential community projects through personal networks & new sources, BeCause also reaches out to our extended network for project recommendations
Step 2: Project Selection
BeCause performs rigorous due diligence to select the most impactful projects based on 4 metrics (community, lasting impact, effectiveness, sustainability)
Step 3: Funding & Implementation
BeCause raises funds through various channels, works with local project leader to tailor funding structure, and taps into network to provide technical or management support to projects when necessary
Step 4: Measurement & Evaluation Reporting
Project leaders provide regular reports and updates on progress
Step 5: Feedback & Adjustment
BeCause provides feedback to project leaders to further improve effectiveness, when necessary we modify funding amounts and structure when necessary
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
1. Funding sources: Fundraising events, individuals, grants, private foundations, government earmarks and corporate support. BeCause does not charge a service fee for fundraising on our website, 100% of your donations will go directly toward project implementation
2. Executive Directors championing functions such as Strategic Planning, Program Management, Recruiting, Relationship Management, Business Development & Marketing, Reporting, Country Director (local executive), fluency in both English & Vietnamese
3. Governance: minutes of all board meetings, review of policies, public disclosure of Annual Reports, IRS 990 form
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since our inception, we have helped 3 schools, 200 students in 2011. By 2015 we have reached 15 schools, impacting 3750 students. Where we were able to impact, is donating books, notebooks, uniforms, library rooms, other school supplies, and desktops.
What we haven't been able to accomplish and would like to do so in the coming years, is to be able to afford more meaningful and impactful projects such as: donating school lunches and donating The Shoes That Grow. We believe these will be most helpful to keep underprivileged children from poor families in school, motivate them to show up to school, and make their long journey to school more comfortable (since most roads in rural Vietnam where these kids live are not concrete and walking on them without shoes on can cause injury).
