Hope for Single Moms

Moving single mom families from poverty to prosperity with a career education

aka Hope for Single Moms   |   GRAND RAPIDS, MI   |  www.hsmgr.org

Mission

Join us as we help single moms write their own Cinderella story! We do that by helping them get a career education. Nearly half of single mom families live in poverty. Their children are hungry. Hungry children can't focus on school. Our mission is to invite you to walk alongside a single mom to decrease the loneliness and isolation she feels, to give her hope and encourage her on her journey from poverty to prosperity. When you do, her family can thrive!

Notes from the nonprofit

Hope for Single Moms is on a mission to ensure children in single mom families thrive. Our program is for single parents who are full-time students in college or trade school. Our goal is to help parents and their young children develop the educational and family life skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency. Many single moms work multiple minimum-wage jobs, which doesn’t pay the bills. They’re not home evenings to provide meals, family structure. We remove the barriers single moms have to going back to school and provide the tools they need to succeed. The women can have a career where they can provide well for their children, who will grow well physically and do well academically, breaking the cycle of poverty. However, the two biggest barriers to getting this education are living and daycare expenses. That’s where your donations come in. Hope for Single Moms’ program is comprehensive and individualized to meet the needs of each family.

In addition, there are other expenses that arise such as car repairs that we help with.
