What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Riding For Focus

Our middle school cycling education program, Riding for Focus, promotes cycling as an outlet to support the social, emotional, and cognitive health of students. The schools are provided all the necessary equipment and a curriculum to get students riding. We have now awarded school programs to over 350 schools across the United States and Canada. In 2023, we awarded 53 schools, distributing over 2000 bikes, and training over 100 teachers on youth cycling education. Over 80% of these schools serve students from low-income backgrounds.

Population(s) Served
Adolescents
People with learning disabilities

The Outride Fund empowers communities to launch youth cycling programs. We provide community nonprofits with unrestricted grants to promote the positive benefits of cycling and increase accessibility, interest, and participation in cycling. In 2023, we eliminated the matching funds requirement for the grants, and awarded an addition 39 community grants.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth
Economically disadvantaged people

We collaborate with universities, schools, and community organizations to understand the impact cycling has on how we think, feel, and behave. This work helps us advance the research on the effects of cycling on our wellbeing and we focus on translating research into practice where possible. In 2023, we collaborated and supported research with several institutions including Stanford University, University of Wyoming, University of Georgia, and Loma Linda University.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth
People with intellectual disabilities
