What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Queen Bee® HIV Awareness & Prevention Program

This is a grassroots, status neutral, community-based program aimed to empower minority women and teenage girls who reside in geographical areas with a high incidence of HIV transmission and are vulnerable to acquiring sexually transmitted infections (STI). We teach participants effective HIV and STI prevention strategies in a fun, feminine, culturally, and age-appropriate way and incorporate the CDC Sister to Sister: Take Control of Your Health (TCYH) evidence-based curriculum. In recognition of National Women’s and Girls HIV Awareness Day, we host our annual Queen Bee ® HIV Awareness Symposium to highlight panelist speakers, local vendors, and offer free HIV testing.

This program helps to increase females’ knowledge of local HIV/AIDS statistics, improve condom negotiation skills, and reduce stigma and discrimination among persons living with HIV. We also provide HIV prevention education to medical healthcare providers in efforts to help increase access to PrEP and PEP for females.

Population(s) Served
Women and girls
Heterosexuals
Non-adult children
Parents

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a highly effective HIV prevention strategy at reducing HIV transmission up to 99% when taken as prescribed, however, it is underutilized in the female population who could greatly benefit from it, due to health inequalities, lack of education, marketing/advertisement, fear, stigma, medical mistrust and other structural barriers within healthcare; all of which we aim to address.

She Is PrEPalicious® is a grassroots community-based HIV Prevention Program dedicated to educating Black and minority females of color as well as licensed healthcare providers about the benefits of (PrEP). The goal of this program is to increase awareness of PrEP, explain how it works, and equip women and girls who how PrEP can reduce HIV transmission. It is our goal to help females make healthier choices as it relates to their sexual health and to provide a network of support, reduce stigma and fear associated with PrEP uptake among women.

Population(s) Served
Women and girls
Heterosexuals
Transgender people
At-risk youth
Parents
