OKYLP Summer Enrichment

OKYLP offers two different programs that encompass a variety of services within each.
OKYLP offers an afterschool program that runs year round with available transportation included from school to OKYLP. They have trained staff and certified teachers to mentor kids and assist with homework as needed. Upon completion of the program, kids who completed over 65 hours of reading received a “Reading Readiness” certificate. The afterschool program costs $45 per week, with available scholarships for families that need assistance. As a result of the afterschool program, data has shown an increase in grades and test scores.
In addition, the organization also has a summer school (enrichment) program that coincides with the scheduled summer break for Oklahoma City Public Schools. During the program, the kids are fed breakfast and lunch. OKYLP strives to create a school type atmosphere outside of the classroom. The summer program consists of block schedule classes, wellness activities, and educational field trips. Upon completion of the program, kids who completed over 65 hours of reading received a “Reading Readiness” certificate. The summer program costs $45 per week, with available scholarships for families that need assistance. Year after year, the summer program continues to grow and data shows that literacy rates, grades, and test scores have improved.
