What we aim to solve
Ukraine Focus, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to addressing the pressing humanitarian and medical needs arising from the ongoing war in Ukraine. Our goal is to provide vital assistance to those most severely affected by the war, including essential supplies like ambulances, lights, generators, medical equipment, clothing, and more. We believe that our on-the-ground presence and regular interactions with the communities we serve are crucial for understanding their needs and delivering effective aid. By fostering strong relationships with varied government bodies at all levels, we are able to gain insights and information directly from government sources, which further enhances our ability to respond to the evolving situation and supply what is needed most. We also feel that it’s critical to provide written agreements, such as a Memorandum of Understanding, so that all parties understand their roles and responsibilities.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Volunteer Ambulance Corp
The medical infrastructure in Ukraine has been significantly damaged and access to critically needed medical aid has been severely impacted by the Russian Armed Forces targeted attacks. Ambulances have and continue to be a focus of their aggression. The United States has a long history of providing medical assistance to those in need. The Volunteer Ambulance Corps program, modeled after the American Field Service created in WW1, provides first-hand support to the medical professionals and field staff that are in dire need of assistance. Through this program, Ukraine Focus sources, procures, repairs as necessary and delivers functional ambulances.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Ukraine Focus aims to achieve several goals through its programs and initiatives, including building medical capacity, help Ukrainians manage power shortages, and creating spaces for Ukrainian adults to access services and children to play and connect. The Volunteer Ambulance Corps program provides much-needed support to medical professionals and field staff in Ukraine, who are often overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis. By equipping them with essential supplies and equipment, we aim to improve their ability to provide lifesaving care and assist in the delivery of essential services.
The Light Up Ukraine program seeks to address the Russia’s relentless attacks on Ukraine’s electric power grid. The focus of this program is to purchase and distribute solar lanterns to provide critically needed light as well as power to charge cell phones. Generators will also provide energy and heat for shelters and other public spaces. By providing solar lights and generators, we hope to improve the quality of life for those living in areas without access to electricity.
Through the Rebuild: Community Centers program, Ukraine Focus aims to restore and rebuild structures that are critical to communities throughout Ukraine. These centers provide essential services such as education, healthcare, and social support, and are often damaged or destroyed by the war. By repairing and rebuilding these centers, we hope to support the recovery and rebuilding of communities affected by the crisis.
Finally, the Playgrounds4Peace initiative seeks to create safe, fun spaces for children and families affected by the war. By providing playgrounds and Peace Zones, we aim to promote social cohesion, reduce stress, and provide a sense of normalcy for those children impacted by the crisis.
Overall, Ukraine Focus aims to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by the war in Ukraine. Through our programs and initiatives, we hope to provide essential aid, promote human rights, and support the long-term freedom and future of Ukraine.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Ukraine Focus has aligned its programs and initiatives with several of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Our strategies for achieving these goals are as follows:
1. Good Health and Well-Being (#3)
Our Volunteer Ambulance Corps program provides critical support to medical professionals and field staff in Ukraine, who are often overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis. By equipping them with essential supplies and equipment, we aim to improve their ability to provide lifesaving care and assist in the delivery of essential services. We also provide medical equipment, clothing, and other supplies to those in need, with a focus on improving health outcomes and promoting well-being.
2. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (#9)
Our Light Up Ukraine program seeks to address the critical shortage of reliable energy sources in many parts of the country. By providing solar lights and generators, we hope to improve the quality of life for those living in areas without access to electricity and reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. We also support local businesses and entrepreneurs through our programs, promoting innovation and economic growth.
3. Sustainable Cities and Communities (#11)
Through the Rebuild: Community Centers program, Ukraine Focus aims to restore and rebuild structures that are critical to communities throughout Ukraine. These centers provide essential services such as education, healthcare, and social support, and are often damaged or destroyed by the conflict. By repairing and rebuilding these centers, we hope to support the recovery and rebuilding of communities affected by the crisis and promote sustainable urban development.
4. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (#16)
Ukraine Focus is committed to promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions in Ukraine. We do this by providing aid and support to those affected by the conflict, promoting human rights, and advocating for peaceful resolution of the crisis. We also work closely with government agencies and other stakeholders to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance. We ask all our partners to sign a collaborative agreement known as a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). These MOU’s are critical to clarity, responsibility and roles of all involved. MOU’s are also announced through social media and made available for public review, so that all levels of society can see the roles and responsibilities of all involved parties.
5. Partnerships for the Goals (#17)
Finally, Ukraine Focus recognizes the importance of partnerships in achieving our goals. We work closely with other organizations, both in Ukraine and internationally, to share knowledge, resources, and expertise. We also collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote effective and sustainable solutions to the crisis in Ukraine. By building strong partnerships, we aim to maximize our impact and achieve our shared goals.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our capabilities stem from our organizational structure, experienced personnel, financial resources, and a strong network of partners. These capabilities enable us to effectively work towards our goals, which are aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a focus on SDGs #3, #9, #11, #16, and #17, we have designed specific programs that address the needs and challenges of affected communities in Ukraine.
1. Organizational structure: Our organization is structured to enable efficient deployment of resources and streamlined decision-making processes. We have dedicated people responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of each program. This ensures that we can quickly adapt to changing circumstances and make informed decisions to maximize our impact.
2. Experienced personnel: Our team consists of professionals with diverse skill sets and backgrounds, including experts in international development, governance, urban planning, and international relations. This allows us to address multidisciplinary challenges and effectively implement our programs.
3. Financial resources: We have a robust fundraising strategy that enables us to secure the necessary funds to implement our programs. This includes grant applications and individual donations. Our transparent financial management system ensures that funds are allocated efficiently and effectively to achieve our goals.
4. Network of partners: Collaborating with local and international partners is crucial for the success of our programs. We have established partnerships with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector entities that share our vision and commitment to sustainable development. These partnerships not only provide us with valuable resources and expertise but also help us to amplify our impact and reach a wider audience.
Our programs, such as the Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Light Up Ukraine, Rebuild: Community Centers, and Playgrounds 4 Peace, are tailored to address specific needs and challenges in Ukraine. With our strong organizational capabilities, we are confident in our ability to make meaningful progress towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and creating a brighter future for the communities we serve.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our organization has made significant progress in achieving our goals and making a positive impact on the Ukrainian communities we serve. We have successfully delivered a total of 11 ambulances, which have been instrumental in improving emergency response times and saving lives. The Volunteer Ambulance Corps partnered to deliver more than 115 ambulances throughout the last year.
We have successfully completed several other projects, encompassing the distribution of 1,500 solar lights, 2 generators, and the provision of 100 water purifiers. Playgrounds4Peace program partnered to build 16 playgrounds and 6 Peace Zones throughout Ukraine. These projects have helped to improve the quality of life for people in the communities where they were implemented.
Our organization has also been involved in providing humanitarian aid, including the delivery and distribution of 2,000 coats, medical kits, first aid packets, and 44 ventilators. These supplies have been critical in responding to emergencies and helping those in need.
Moving forward, we plan to continue our efforts to provide aid and support to those in need, while also working to raise awareness of the issues we are addressing. We will continue to seek out opportunities to collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to achieve our goals and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
