What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

At T. Rowe Price, we’re more than associates. We’re volunteers, donors, educators, grantmakers, and environmentalists. Guided by a core set of values, we’re committed to creating positive change in our communities and beyond. On behalf of the firm, the T. Rowe Price Foundation encourages and supports TRP associates to engage in philanthropy. The two approaches of the Foundation’s giving; through our direct grants program that historically focuses on education, human services, arts and culture. Additionally, the Foundation works with our associates through our Matching Gift Program, which matches associate contributions to qualified non-profits, and makes grants to organizations where associates volunteer. The Foundation's mission is to pursue the long-term success of the communities in which TRP associates live and work, just as the firm is committed to pursuing the long-term financial success of its clients.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The T. Rowe Price Foundation is working toward several goals including:

Engaging in Effective Citizenship and Impact
Being Active Managers of Social Good
Toward Collaborative Leadership
Toward Operational Excellence
Being a Daily Value-Add to T. Rowe Price

The Foundation employs several strategies against our foundation goals. For example in our Effective Citizenship portfolio, we provide the following philanthropic outputs:

New Grant Fund: New fund that allows Foundation to test out new relationships that might have longer-term appeal to the Foundation. This fund has helped the Foundation reach more diverse grantees in new communities.
Effective Citizenship: Foundation’s oldest fund being transitioned to a fund that ensures current 100+ grantees are strong partners to the company and align to the changing Baltimore community.
Impact Fund: Beginning in West Baltimore in 2015, the Impact Fund is aimed at finding the “sticks in the bundle” strategies that can have systemic impacts in disenfranchised communities.
Campaigns: Re-organized fund that provides large, multi-year funding to organizational and/or community expansion to top-tier grantees.
Disaster Philanthropy: New fund that allows us to respond to natural disasters

The foundation is powered by the generosity and talent of the T. Rowe Price associates, who have a strong commitment to their communities. A separate nonprofit entity and managed by a separate board, our energy and resources come from the support of our company.

The Foundation is proud of a number of accomplishments. In relation to our work in partnership with the West Baltimore community, we have seen the following:

Food Insecurity: The West Baltimore community is now able to obtain fresh fruits and vegetables several days a week from nearly two dozen vendors. In 2015, there was no produce availability in the neighborhood of Sandtown-Winchester.
Financial Empowerment: Our support of KIVA model has provided over $250K in support to over 50 local borrowers by over 4000 lenders throughout the globe. In 2018, it is projected that over 1000 West Baltimore parents and students with engage in financial wellness services by Maryland CASH and Junior Achievement.
Capacity Building - In 2017, the Foundation’s capacity building reached over 665 participants, including non-grantees.
