Adult and Pediatric Primary Care

Johnson Health Center provides quality, comprehensive health care for adult patients in a Patient-Centered Medical Home. Our staff includes medical doctors, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners/physician assistants), licensed counselors, and an array of nursing staff including nurses, medical assistants, and care managers in an effort to meet all of your primary care needs.

Johnson Health Center offers a full range of womens health services and prenatal care. Our Obstetrics and Gynecological (OB/GYN) team provides preventative care and gynecological surgeries, as well as care before, during, and after pregnancy. Our OB/GYN providers also perform procedures and deliver newborns at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

Some of the OB/GYN services offered at JHC are:

Behavioral health services for children and adults are offered at all of our primary care locations. We work closely with medical providers,

Our behavioral health providers include Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Professional Counselors and Social Workers.

Some of the behavioral health services available to our adult and pediatric patients are:
Behavioral Health Integration through primary care appointments
Individual and group counseling
Outpatient psychiatric groups
Play therapy
Perinatal behavioral health services
Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT)
Acudetox

Routine dental care is an important part of wellness! Johnson Health Center strives to meet all of your wellness needs. Dental services are available to adults, children and expecting mothers. You do not have to be a primary care patient of Johnson Health Center to see one of our dentists.

We recognize some children may be anxious about their dental exam or present with other concerns. In order to help pediatric patients remain calm so that the best service is available to them, we offer mild conscious sedation. This involves the utilization of nitrous oxide in combination with a pre-anesthesia oral sedation medication. The child will be partially awake and responsive but will have no memory of the procedures done, meaning no trauma is generated. There are special requirements so every case

Johnson Health Center operates a pharmacy to ensure our patients and community members have access to affordable prescriptions. Johnson Health Center operates two pharmacies; one in Lynchburg and one in Bedford. Johnson Health Centers pharmacies can fill prescriptions for anyone, including those who are not patients of JHC.

In addition to our pharmacies reduced and competitive prices, we also offer a $4 price list for specific medications.

Population(s) Served

Johnson Health Center offers free transportation to and from medical appointments for patients living in Amherst, Bedford or Campbell Counties, Appomattox and the City of Lynchburg. The van is available from 8:30am-4pm Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved for specialty referral appointments. Patients should let the call center know they would like transportation when scheduling their appointment. There is no charge for this service.

Johnson Health Center has two mobile units that are used to expand our services further into the communities that we serve. The mobile units will offer limited medical and dental services. Each unit will be taken to community organizations and schools to provide on-site care for residents, students, etc.
