What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Chorus works to improve and develop a passion for choral music in Chesapeake. A major way the Chorus reaches the community is by sponsoring two annual concerts in the spring and winter. The Chorus recognizes the importance of music-education for children, and strives to partner with the city to expose children to choral music.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
•Inspire community appreciation through masterful performances, a dedication to artistic excellence and increase music-educational;
•Improve artistic professionalism and foster an enjoyable, supportive environment for members to create the Best Community Chorus in Hampton Roads;
•Establish an open environment for members to feel welcomed and encouraged to participate;
•Coordinate individual member participation in at least two additional activities (stage crew, other performance, board member, etc.) each year beyond the two main concerts;
•Increase educational opportunities and commitment to choral education for audience, members and the community through music scholarships;
•Present master classes for members, other choirs and community;
•Increase BMCC financial assets that enables us to achieve our mission;
•Solicit contributions from the community, businesses, and choir members with the goal of increasing contributions 10% each year;
•Explore grant opportunities with the goal of creating one new grant every year;
•Improve Marketing with the goal of increasing audiences by 5% each year;
•Investigate additional educational outreach opportunities;
•Invite gifted college students to audition;
•Publish an annual report for the members and community that includes operating expenses, ticket sales, monetary contributions, and other sources of income.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The mission of the Chesapeake Civic Chorus is to foster and develop the art of choral music for its members and the community. It is comprised of more than 40 members who reside in the Hampton Roads area.
