What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Teacher Grants and My First Book Club

For 30 years the Foundation has provided educators with grants to enable high-quality professional development that directly impacts classroom teaching and better student engagement. We want to bring true cross-curriculum opportunities and transcend learning in all subjects and real life applications.

"My First Book Club” is a program for at-risk preschool students to improve literacy, develop a love of reading and promote peer interaction. Each month students will receive a new book for classroom and at home reading. For many students these are the first new books they have ever owned. Students also receive a surprise Holiday gift and two books for the summer. Teachers set goals for individual reading skills and read together in a group setting. Students keep the books to build their first home library. With future funds, we would like to expand the program to include an additional 100 students enrolled in Head Start.
