What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Implementation of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, Support and Treatment Services

The purpose of this grant is to strengthen HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support and treatment and to manage certain Local Partner Treatment facilities.

Population(s) Served

The purpose of the this subgrant received from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is specifically for the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission  (PMTCT) activities.  Funds are provided to each of the five CAF managed sites for this effort.

Population(s) Served

In 2004 a subgrant was initially issued by the University of Maryland, Baltimore on behalf of it's Institute of Human Virology to the Children's AIDS Fund.  Currently the subgrant to Children's AIDS Fund is with Catholic Relief Services (CRS).  The agreement originally for five years has been extended until Feb 2012.  The primary purpose was to manage HIV out-patient clinics in three countries:  South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.  In Feb 2010 the South Africa sites were transitioned to direct US government funding.  The sites in Uganda and Zambia will be transitioned in 2011 and 2012 respectively, with CAF continued to provide technical assistance to the sites but will not directly manage thier activities.  Transition will continue over a five year period with sites assuming an increasing management role.
