What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

NAASO raises funds to finance two or three conferences a year for scientists, dieticians and clinicians. NAASO sponsored a continuing medical education conference to update doctors, dietitians, health professionals on the causes and treatment of obesity ($45,000). NAASO also publishes a scientific journal (six issues per year) for members and non-members of new research papers in obesity and allied topics ($52,000). One of NAASOs recent accomplishments was hosting a series of workshops for clinicians, scientists, industry and government officials to identify ways to develop, and bring to market, drugs for obesity.
