Mission

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran`s organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

American Legion Baseball

We have restructured our baseball program. We have brought energy and excitement with our new Athletic Director. We currently have 2 JR and 1 SR teams. We want to see this grow to 4 teams each that our Post 3 sponsors. We have partnered with The Salem Red Sox minor league team and will be playing games on their field. We have partnered with Rip City Baseball here in Roanoke, VA to work with us creating a Baseball Pro Day prior to our season. We have partnered with Marine Corp League to have a baseball tournament after Pro Day and before our Legion season. We have partnered with MLB to secure grant funding, uniforms, equipment.
