Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Increase awareness of the need to protect and preserve Dragon Run
Educated more members of the public and government agencies about the pristine condition of Dragon Run
Involve more members of Friends of Dragon Run and the public in preserving and protecting Dragon Run
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Increase the number of paddle trips offered to the public
Make reservations on paddle trips easier to obtain
Plan more events to involve members and public
Reach out to schools who can bring students to Dragon Run to paddle or study the Dragon
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Each member of our volunteer board is involved in efforts to educate the public, schools, or government agencies
Many of our board members are also active members of other conservation organizations, such as the Audubon Society and Master Naturalists
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have offered a fall paddle season for the past two years, with at least 14 additional paddle trips, and have increased the total number of paddlers by about 20 percent
We are actively working with a private school in King & Queen County to bring 8th grade students to Dragon Run
We reserved one full paddle (12 seats) for Middlesex County employees, one full paddle for The Nature Conservancy, one full paddle for The Sierra Club, and we are actively working with the Audubon Society to schedule one full paddle for its members during our Spring 2019 Paddle Season
