Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue Association (TAMR) is a non-profit and state-wide assistance organization dedicated to the welfare of all Alaskan Malamutes, particularly those who are at risk of losing their health, home, or lives in Texas and surrounding areas.

Our objectives are to improve the lives of Alaskan Malamutes by promoting responsible ownership, providing owner and individual support, rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need, assisting dogs into new homes, providing emergency care and assistance, and by providing education services to the public. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every Alaskan Malamute has the home and quality of life which they deserve.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

TAMR provides co-ordination support for local rescue efforts, emergency funding for rescued Malamutes, and acts as a clearinghouse for adoption inquiries or assistance requests. We work closely with other rescue organizations on rescue related issues, monitor related legislation, act as a bulletin board for Malamute related issues, and maintain statistical information on local breed rescue efforts and rescued dogs.

All our rescue volunteers operate under the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL) Code of Ethics and follow approved minimum guidelines for rescuing or re-homing dogs. This ensures a high standard of quality care and support services from our members. TAMR members work directly with shelters, individuals, and other rescue organizations to arrange the release, transportation and foster care of Malamutes needing aid. All the Alaskan Malamutes who come into our rescue program will receive the same level of care and assistance regardless of how they find their way to us.

Texas Alaskan malamute Rescue Association has successfully placed over 400 dogs into permanent homes and foster care. More have been assisted through public referral services. Public events and activities are well received, as are educational services.

Additional volunteers and foster homes remain in high demand, as does funding for ongoing efforts, so as to achieve a higher success rate of assistance and placement.
