Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Northeast Polk Literacy Council are advocates for improved literacy by offering free tutoring for adults in the areas of: reading, preparation for enrolling in a GED course and English as a Second Language.

Adult learners are evaluated to determine their level of education and to pin-point where to best focus their educational needs. They are then paired with a tutor who will meet with the learner on a regular basis to meet the student's learning goals.

Tutors are trained in the best adult educational techniques and are provided with the tools to meet the learner's goals. Material is supplied to both tutor and learner based on the learner's grade level.

Some of the Council's learners have increased their skills enabling them to move forward in traditional educational instatutions. Other learners have enhanced the quality of their lives by succeeding in the workplace and in their personal lives.
