Campo Alegre

Campo Alegre is a 7 week summer academic enrichment program for 100 underserved children in the agricultural, nursery, equestrian, and landscaping fields. The children are transported to South Tech Community High School in Boynton Beach five days a week for the first 4 week session. Small classrooms are guided by certified teachers stressing reading, math, and writing in a theme based atmosphere. Rising kindergarten through 8th grade students attend. Over 11 hours of weekly classroom studies challenge or reinforce the students skills. Nutritious lunches, field trips, and on site activities comprise a well rounded addition for eliminating the "summer learning gap."
A second three week session of Campo Alegre takes place at one of the In the Pines two sites. Continuing the theme based objective, the 45-50 children research, read, and write in a newscast setting, which is then videotaped and critiqued the following morning. Field trips, on site activities, and nutritious lunches and snacks maintain happy, engaged 5- 13 year olds.

Population(s) Served

Help with Homework is an after school tutoring and homework assistance providing over over 100 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade at two farm labor housing communities owned and operated by another non-profit organization, In the Pines, Inc. Overseen by an Education Director/Parent Liaison Director and six part time staff, the 30+ volunteers guide the students in class assignments and projects. With their help, students are able to maintain/improve grades. Interaction with teachers and school administration keeps any future student academic issues from becoming major problems.
