Sacramento Children's Chorus

Now, twenty-eight years later, the SCC is four choirs strong with approximately 100 singers. It continues to provide music education and performance opportunities to children all over the Sacramento region, inspiring audiences with beautiful music. The choir sings in many languages, and celebrates different cultures and religions. The SCC is vitally important today as we watch music education vanish from our schools and our children's lives. There have been numerous milestones over the years: production of Brundibar - a children's opera, singing with well-known adult choirs like the Sacramento Choral Society, performing as ambassadors in England, France, the Czech Republic, Scandinavia, New York (Carnegie Hall), and the Baltic's, appearing at gubernatorial inaugurations and other civic ceremonies, and participating in Mayor Kevin Johnson's "For Arts Sake" initiative by singing at various Sacramento City public schools - part of the Kennedy Center's "Any Given Child" program. In the summer of 2013, the SCC celebrated its 20th Anniversary by traveling to China - representing Sacramento and the United States and performing in some of China's best recital halls. In 2018, we celebrated 25 years of music excellence with a new artistic director.
