Mission

Our mission is achieving equal opportunity in education in Turkey.  To achieve this goal TEF provides scholarships to middle and high school students from low income families so they can continue their education.  The scholarships motivate children's families so that the children are not forced to work at the expense of their education.  The scholarships are given on a need and merit basis, with no religious or ethnic criteria. TEF also provides educational materials to schools in rural and gecekondu (slum) areas of Turkey.

2020-2021 Scholarship Program

In the 2020-2021 academic year, TEF's education program reached $360,328. Of this, $219,809 is for 1030 scholarships for students ranging from 5th to 12th grade. These scholarships are administered by our partner organizations in Turkey: Cağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, CYDD (760 students, $159,769), Anadolu Cağdaş Eğitim Vakfı, ANACEV (210 students, $38,198), Kadın Araştırmaları Derneği (16 students, $4,342), Gundogdu Cagdas Toplum Gonulluleri (70 students, $17,500). In addition Darussafaka, a boarding school for orphans, received a total of $140,519 as full scholarships for 14 students.
