Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
With the many programs of NOBTS and our undergraduate degree programs at Leavell College at NOBTS, be sure to visit www.nobts.edu. Our catalog is online and provides the latest information on goals and objectives and the mission of each division as well as the overall Mission Statement of NOBTS. The overall targeted impact is that we provide accessible educational opportunities that meet the needs of students around the globe. Whether online degree, hybrid models with limited on campus hours, or all online, NOBTS and our Leavell College (undergraduate) strives to meet the needs of students and potential students through various means without sacrificing the quality programs NOBTS is known for. NOBTS is accredited by ATS and our Leavell College by the SACS.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The strategies can vary from Division to Division and degree to degree. Every strategy includes our NOBTS Mission Statement. We have seven basic competencies at NOBTS. These are Biblical Exposition, Christian Theological Heritage, Disciple Making, Interpersonal Skills, Servant Leadership, Spiritual Character and Character Formation, and Worship Leadership. For a more details on each of the Seven Basic Competencies, visit the online catalog at www.nobts.edu.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
A key component in this process is funding, top in their field faculty members, and students. The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) provides the core needs of the NOBTS Master and Doctoral level degrees as it pertains to NOBTS' answers to their Annual questionnaire. This is also true for the reviews from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Faculty who are top in their fields are another building block for success. For example, Dr. Bill Warren heads the the New Testament Textual Studies Center. They developed the content that will be used by several leading Bible study information vendors such as BibleWorks. Discussions are underway for the inclusion in other top vendors. Dr. Warren heads up our Bible museum located on the campus in New Orleans. A complete facsimile of the Ester Scrolls is displayed with other Bibles that date back to the very early 1600's. After completing a more than ten year project interpreting parts of New Testament scrolls and in creating the next version of the Greek New Testament. This is just one of the many talented faculty members. Also, Dr. Dennis Cole has been in archaeological digs for nearly thirty years in Israel. The Division of Social Work is led by Dr. Jeanine Bozeman, a licensed Social Worker and more than 25 year faculty member. These are just a few that help NOBTS meet and exceed their Division strategies. Funding is a vital aspect of meeting all NOBTS capabilities. Mr. Randy Driggers has spent his ministerial career of 20 years in the area of Development and Christian Fundraising. Mr. Driggers is currently working toward the C.F.R.E. designation. His experience brings another part of the overall capabilities. Mr. Clay Corvin, C.P.A., has for more than 30 years served as the Vice President for Business Affairs has created and maintains a solid financial footing for the Institution. Dr. Steve Lemke serves as the NOBTS Provost since 1996. There are many more staff members outside the Senior Administrative staff that help make all of our work possible. We are governed by a strong Board of Trustees comprised of ministers as well as lay business persons representing their state. A growing Foundation Board also helps support the work of the Institution. To sum it up, solid financial footing, strong academic programs led by our Provost, relationship building with donors and acquiring new donors in the Office of Institutional Advancement, a strong group of Trustees and Foundation Board members,. strong alliances with organizations such as the Israeli Antiquities Authority and others, expert faculty members, strong degree programs, and more are a group that provide the capabilities needed for success.
