Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Elderly Services
Evergreen provides community-based services to elderly individuals effective June 2007. Services include personal assistance (help with personal hygiene- bathing, grooming, etc), homemaker services (cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping) and respite for family caregivers.
Supported Employment Services
Personalized job training for individuals with developmental disabilities emphasizing obtaining competitive jobs within the market place. Supported Employment arrangements involve individuals working in the community. Individuals either work in their own jobs, initially supported by a job coach, or in groups that go out into the community. Job coaches are available to go with clients to job sites and help them learn how to perform the job duties required.
Supported Independent Living
Support to individuals with disabilities who are living independently in their own homes or apartments. Support is offered according to the needs of each individual, allowing them to communicate the exact support they would like or require. Support falls into various categories including money management, cooking, health and safety and socialization. Staffing tends to be very flexible so each individual's needs can be addressed. Due to the flexibility of hours and the emphasis on individualism, Supported Living has proven to be a successful and necessary component of community-based services.
Family Support and Respite Care
Support to people with disabilities living with their parents or guardians and support for the caregiver(s). Respite care involves the temporary care and supervision of loved ones with disabilities who are living at home. Respite is the provision of a specified number of days and hours of support whereby the principal caregiver is afforded the time to meet their own personal or occupational needs as well as the need for rest and relaxation. The most usual situation is for Evergreen staff to be sent into an individual's home.
Day Services
Evergreen operates a Day Program for individuals with developmental disabilities to work on pre-vocational skills, engage in social activities, engage in learning activities and participate in health-related activities. Health activities include the newly implemented Adaptive Yoga program (implemented in January 2011) which utilizes yoga techniques to improve the balance, flexibility, strength and behavior challenges of adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Clinical Services
Speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy services provided for adults with disabilities.
