What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
LEAP
In 1997, CLC established and implemented the LEAP (Learning, Enriching, Achieving, Preparing) program which now serves as the foundation for all CLC services. Through LEAP, cooperative partnerships are formed with various Oklahoma County agencies to provide literacy services to agency clients and adults (18 years of age or older) in the surrounding community. Classes are conducted at each partner site and include Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), U.S. Citizenship and/or High School Equivalency (HSE) instruction. Workplace Learning Solutions (WLS) and Tutor Training are also encompassed within the LEAP program. The population that CLC serves earns wages primarily at or below the poverty line, on average, reads between the 2nd-4th grade level, speaks little to no English, seeks a high school equivalency credential and/or U.S. citizenship. CLC remains unique in our efforts to adapt to the needs of adult learners and strategic in our community partnerships.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Two-thirds of 3rd grade children in our public school system are not reading at the appropriate grade level. Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between a parent's low literacy skills and a child's increased risk of testing at the lowest reading levels. Community Literacy Centers acknowledges that in order to break the cycle of intergenerational illiteracy it is imperative that we first address the fundamental language and literacy needs that many Oklahoma parents and other adults in the community lack. During the past fiscal year, CLC acquired nine new sites through a partnership with OKCPS and expanded services into the Edmond area.
