What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Adoption Services
The MMH Adoption Services program provides professional guidance and counseling throughout the adoption process. Birth mothers receive adoption education, professional counseling and emotional support and financial assistance with their maternity related expenses. The Maternity Center is located on campus and provides a safe residence for birth mothers if needed during the pregnancy. Birth mothers also receive up to two years of post-adoption counseling, at no cost for them. The Adoption Services program assists families wanting to build their family through adoption. We offer domestic infant, international, and older child adoption services. The MMH Adoption Resource Center provides post adoption services for birth parents, adoptees, and families.
Center for Higher Independence
Established in 1974, the Center for Higher Independence (CHI) offered transitional education to people who were deaf. Today services have expanded to include young adults 18 years and older who are challenged with various disabilities. CHI offers a transitional education including life and vocational skills to young adults to prepare them for independent living to the extent that is feasible given their disability. CHI provides a safe and nurturing environment within a program structure where people challenged with disabilities can live and gain respect while learning to live responsible and productive lives.
