What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program 1
Throughout the year the San Antonio RoadRunners (SARR) conducted a series of races offering running and walking competitions at a variety of distances. course types and levels of difficulty. The club emphasizes a safe and runner/walker friendly venue for all of these events, providing medical support, security, and logistical support to all participants and spectators. As a result, thousands of runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels have been able to participate and compete. The Club also sponsors several meet-ups throughout the year to encourage individuals to walk or run in a group setting.
Program 2
The club conducted various training programs throughout the year to improve the fitness of the training participants and to prepare them for upcoming road or trail racing competitions. These training programs are designed to prepare participants for running events at distances ranging in distance between 5K and 10K up to half marathon and full marathon distances and beyond. Volunteer Road Runners Club of America (RRCA)-Certified Coaches, experienced mentors, and training group pace leaders ensure that participants in all training groups are prepared both mentally and physically to begin or continue a lifetime of health and physical fitness.
Program 3
SARR maintains a website that is available to both members and the general public. On this website, SARR publishes a monthly President's letter (or newsletter) containing items of interest to the local running community. This is available to the general public free of charge on the SARR website at http://saroadrunners.org. SARR also provides the local community with an online events calendar that is open to the local community to post running and walking events, and to promote fundraising events through these events for other local charitable organizations. Additionally SARR maintains a Facebook page and a Meetup.com site to encourage runners and walkers of all ages to organize and participate in runs and walks throughout the week. In addition, SARR sends periodic emails to members and past participants informing them of upcoming races and training programs.
