Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) created the American Airpower Heritage Group (The Group) on November 20, 1990 as part of a reorganization of the corporate structure of the CAF. The Commemorative Air Force is a 501 (c) 3 Texas-based non-profit organization dedicated to flying and restoring World War II aircraft. The organization's headquarters offices are at Dallas Executive Airport. The organization has more than 19,000 members and a fleet of more than 175 World War II aircraft, operated by 89 units across the United States. The American Airpower Heritage Museum (AAHFM) owns all or substantially all of the Group’s aircraft.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The CAF maintains aircraft belonging to the AAHFM and fully controls operation of those aircraft in accordance with CAF rules and regulations. The CAF has primary responsibility for membership, maintenance of aircraft and air show demonstrations. In addition, the CAF provides administrative and management assistance to the other
members in the Group. The entity is comprised of 80 chartered Wings, Squadrons and Detachments
throughout the nation, under the direction of the HQ division. The majority of the aircraft operations,
restoration, and maintenance is performed through these Units.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.

- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
