What we aim to solve
Our vision is that everyone experiences welcoming, inspiring, and effective Earth education. NAGT supports a diverse, inclusive, and thriving community of educators and education researchers to improve teaching and learning about the Earth.
Our programs

On the Cutting Edge Professional Development Program
On the Cutting Edge is a professional development program focused on improving Earth education for all. The program includes the Earth Educators' Rendezvous, the Traveling Workshops Program, the workshop for Early Career Geoscience Faculty, a webinar series, the Teach the Earth portal to teaching resources, and more. Our professional development opportunities are designed to meet the needs of different audiences, including college and university educators, K-12 teachers, graduate students and post-docs, geoscience education researchers, and two-year college faculty.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
NAGT has four goals that guide our work:
To promote high-quality Earth education;
To foster and disseminate research in geoscience education;
To drive change toward an equitable and inclusive system of geoscience education;
To support current and future geoscience educators throughout their careers.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
NAGT works to achieve its goals through offering high-quality professional development, engaging in advocacy, recognizing achievements at all levels through an awards program, responding to community needs by developing new resources, and partnering with others whose work aligns with our mission and vision.

- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
